After 10 year of lively life, the 22@ district of Barcelona celebrates its birthday with different events like free guided tours led by some of Barcelona Guide Bureau’s guides.
The 22@ Barcelona project converted 200 hectares of industrial land in Poblenou into an innovative, productive district which offers modern office space for the strategic concentration of knowledge businesses. It is one of the most significant urban reconvertions in Europe and was started in 2001.
This renewed part of the city (also called “New Barcelona”) was once characterized by abandoned industrial sites and changed completely its aspect after the intervention of many worldwide famous architects like Jean Nouvel, Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue, Dominique Perrault, Herzog & de Meuron among others.
Actually it hosts more that 7.000 companies’ offices and shops with 56.000 workers more than in 2000 and thanks to its innovation level and good results, its production model is being exported all over the world.
To get people to know this interesting area, the Ajuntament de Barcelona (Barcelona City Council) offers to everybody the opportunity of participating to different guided tours that will take to the most relevant buildings of the 22@, visiting:
- Barcelona Activa head quarter
- Imagina building, Mediapro company head quarter
