The 157th aniversary of Gaudí

The 25th of June it was Gaudi’s birthday. The Catalan genius was born in Reus, Tarragona, a village in south Catalonia. He came from a coppersmith family and the passion for this metal we see reflected in his later work on several buildings in Barcelona. He studied in the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura in Barcelona, and in the early years he stood out among the students as a very imaginative and innovative architect. That’s how Eusebi Güell, a wealthy Catalan bourgeois and an art lover, became his patron helping him to construct most of his buildings in the Catalan capital.

A visit to go outside the urban circuit of Barcelona

Montserrat is a unique Natural Park, and a massive rock over 4000 feet high, visible for miles, with weird shapes and rounded peaks that jut into the sky; there are paths, stairs, caves, chapels and hermitages scattered over the mountain, extraordinary landscapes and wonderful views.
