Up on the Montserrat Mountain there is a nearly 1000 year old Benedictine monastery, perched half way up the mountain and sheltered by its peaks. The monastery’s basilica houses the Chapel of Our Lady of Montserrat known as La Moreneta, the patron saint of Catalonia whose presence is strongly felt and revered. Montserrat Tour: You will follow the Llobregat River to the foot of the spectacular Montserrat Mountain and then continue up to the Sanctuary 725m (2380 feet) above sea level. Montserrat Monastery: Guided orientation tour. On arrival to Montserrat your guide will give a tour of the main places of interest such as the monastery, the basilica, the museum, with a marvellous collection of paintings, and Stations of the Cross as well as bars, restaurants, shops and the market with home made products.
