Festa Major de Gracia, enjoy one of the best summer events in Barcelona

For those on vacation in Barcelona or those living here and want to enjoy their holidays, there is one great thing to do this week: go to Gracia and enjoy the party.

Since 1817, the Festa Major de Gracia has been the big city’s summer festival. From the 15th to the 21st of August, the whole Gracia district will be full of concerts and other entertainment. This week it is not only one of Barcelona’s many districts but Gracia is transforming itself into an incredible cultural space with music, colours and people.

All the streets will be decorated by the people of neighbourhood and a competition between 16 of the streets will be held to award the most beautifully decorated street.

Music is a big part of the Festa Major de Gracia. The Festigabal is a three day music festival where you this year can enjoy famous Catalan artists like Manel. The American pop group Windsor for the Derby will be performing as well.

One of the other highlights of the festival is the amazing Castellers in which men, women and children build human towers.

More than 700 events are programmed during this week so go to Gracia and enjoy it. It is one of the best ways to discover a part of the Catalan culture.
