Gaudí and Dalí

For those who would like to know more about these two Catalan and very Mediterranean artists.

La Pedrera (the Quarry): The architect Antoni Gaudí was commissioned by the Milà family to build this residential building declared World Heritage by UNESCO.

Finished in 1911, it was regarded almost as a piece of sculpture and has become one of his most famous buildings.

On the top floor is the Espai Gaudí (Gaudi Space), and exhibition of models of his buildings and their technical features, and below is The Apartment, fully furnished in period furniture, an example of how the wealthy lived at the beginning of the 20th century. The roof terrace with its famous chimney stacks can also be visited.

Batlló House, Façade: A very special house by Gaudí, the originality and creativity of shapes and forms have given the house many popular nicknames such as the house of bones or the dragon house.

Private collection “Dalí the Sculptor” : For those too short of time to visit the Dalí Museum in Figueres. On the ground floor of the Royal Artistic Circle in Barcelona there is a very fine private collection. This provocative surrealist painter and sculptor (1904-1989) will surprise you. Allow our guide to explain the truth in his famous phrase “the difference between a madman and me is that I am not mad”, using photographs, posters, drawings, sculptures large and small, models, constructions, books, watercolours, jewelry designs, paintings etc. to argue the case.
