World Mobile Congress in Barcelona.

Until Thursday, Barcelona was hosting the World Mobile Congress, the leading conference for technology of mobile telecommunications. The city hopes to reap 200 million euros from this event.

During four days, 47,000 people visited the congress in Montjuic. There were 1300 exhibitors, including groups such as Google, Telefónica, Microsoft and Vodafone.

This congress takes place every year in Barcelona and it is an opportunity for the city to move forward during a low season for business. With last year’s edition, Barcelona made a profit of up to 220 million euros. Since it was created in 2006, the Congress made a total of 1.2 billion euros. The congress has created over 27,000 jobs in five years. Tens of thousands of visitors will feed the hotel sector of the city whose occupancy rate reaches 90% during these four days.
